Minimalism is one of those concepts, much like simple living where it can mean different things to different people. Minimalism is something that should be personal and unique to the person living it. There is no single set of rules or standards that you must follow and meet to be a minimalist.
Minimalism isn't about owning less for the sake of less. Instead, minimalism is a tool that can help you create the life you want and give yourself the freedom to live that life. It's a tool to help you live intentionally, so you can focus your time, space, energy and attention on what matters most to you.
8 COMMON MISCONCEPTIONS ABOUT MINIMALISM
1. Minimalism is about getting rid of everything you own.
2. Minimalism is so restrictive it makes life harder.
3. Minimalism and being frugal are the same things.
4. You can't have collections or hobbies if you are a minimalist.
5. Minimalism means stark, all-white rooms that look cold and uninviting.
6. You have to follow a certain set of rules or standards to be a true minimalist.
7. You can't be a minimalist if you have kids. Minimalism only works for young, single people.
8. Minimalism only applies to your stuff.

In the above documentary I like the most ' JOSHUA - the minimalist ' . I watch this documentary and learn the concept of minimalism and it changes my thinking in positive way. When asked what is minimalism, JOSHUA BECKER of becoming Minimalist says: "Minimalist is the intentional promotion of the things we most value and the removal of anything that distracts us from it."
This documentary perfectly describes minimalism. It is about having a clear understanding of what you value most in your life. This can mean things that take up your space and time. In this documentary we see minimalism is a growing philosophical trend in recent years . JOSHUA explained how earlier he owned a lot of stuff, everything that he desires but still he wasn't happy enough. Those things didn't give peace to his heart and mind. Now that he has changed his idea of living, he is actually focusing on what he really need and now he proudly saying that this is what is giving him happiness.
The one question he always asked for himself ' Does this add value to his life? ' His friend Ryan also understand the concept and adapted this vision and it actually made him happy.
This video show how two friends are trying to spread the concept of minimalism and also tried to explain that minimalism is a growing philosophical trend in recent years. Minimalist life is a way of life that provides more ability to focus, freedom of movement, improved comfort and quality of life by minimizing the material and spiritual elements in human life according to the needs.
At the end of the documentary we see a family, where one person has adopted this concept without forcing any of his family members to do so. His wife has different needs and thus has a different path of minimalism. Minimalism has too many explanation but JOSHUA explained very well.
From this documentary I differentiate between our need and want and I proudly say I don't waste my money to buy unnecessary shopping. Now I save my money and I am very happy I change my standard of living.
